Start the season of giving with original art by DAVA youth and local artists. DAVA is a wonderful destination for handmade holiday gifts! Proceeds from this exhibition support free year-round art programs for kids in our northern Aurora community. DAVA is located at 1405 Florence Street, one block south of East Colfax Avenue in the Aurora Cultural Arts District. Please join us for the Opening Reception on Friday, December 3rd from 4-7 pm. Hope will be on display through January 14th, 2022.

Students in all DAVA programs are creating unique artworks to share with you. They have made a wide range of ceramic items, including decorative tiles, tea bowls, candle and soap holders, bells, and sculptural planter pots. Guest artist Christine O’Dea worked with students to make a special series of miniature pots and incense burners on the pottery wheel. Other students created editions of prints by carving linoleum blocks or experimenting with Gelli monoprints. Young artists even braided and stitched string to make original baskets and coasters.

Artwork by guest artists includes paintings and prints of daily scenes by Matty Miller, mini pots and ceramic wall hangings by Christine O’Dea; crocheted hats by Mikah Neff, Reiki charged candles by Cûriōs Nature Co, wood fired pottery by Liam Grinton, and hand-forged metal jewelry from Designs by Vickie A. In addition, DAVA is excited to present beaded jewelry from I Love ME Gems created by a group of local immigrant women led by Venezuelan artist Yurima Crownley at Aurora Community Connections.
