DAVA is committed to proving that high quality out-of-school art education changes kids’ lives. Programs encourage youth to develop their creativity and character, and to step up as future leaders. Evaluation results demonstrate our successful outcomes. In November 2017, National Research Center evaluation surveys showed that 83% of Job Training students “learned new artistic skills,” 70% “work better with others on a team,” 81% "make more positive choices, and 83% feel “prepared to work at a job.”

An outside study (2009-2010) of DAVA’s Job Training Programs also showed that our middle school students’ Grade Point Averages (GPAs) rose significantly. We celebrate this solid evidence that arts education keeps kids engaged, learning, and achieving.

Over the years, DAVA has received many local and national awards, including a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award, an Aurora Chamber of Commerce Award for Excellence in the Arts, two Karl Eitel awards (El Pomar), a City of Aurora ACE Award for Civic Excellence, among others. Our greatest achievements are with youth who come back to tell us of their careers, their pursuit of higher education, and their engagement in community.

The Alliance for Creative Youth Development

The Alliance for Creative Youth Development is a community of Colorado youth arts organizations who share evaluation methods and best practices. We formed the Alliance to advance the concept of creative youth development through the arts, share resources, and to sustain and advocate for the impact on youth by all member organizations. Please visit the Alliance website to learn more about our results.
